Five Workout Videos to Inspire and Motivate Your Running

Have you dreamed of effortlessly sprinting through the woods with the warm sun on your back?  Or maybe carving your abs out of granite?  If you’re looking to get in the best shape of your life, these videos provide the perfect motivation.

Each of these videos has inspired me to train harder than ever and run faster.  They’re not all entirely running videos, but they show what’s possible.  I hope they inspire you too.

Ryan Hall, American record holder in the half-marathon, prepares for the Boston Marathon with this tough workout.  Besides the unbelievable workout, the narrative is inspiring as to what motivates Hall to compete.

Erwan Le Corre is the founder of MovNat and encourages everyone to “explore their true nature.”  His idea of working out is scrambling over boulders, climbing trees, and barefoot running through the woods.  If this video doesn’t get you jacked up to run trails, I’m not sure what will.

Dathan Ritzenhein is one of America’s most talented distance runners.  Finishing 9th in the Beijing Olympic Marathon, this grueling tempo helped prepared him for a top 10 finish.

Team Indiana Elite goes through a ridiculous core routine here.  This makes me really want to do more core work.  If you do this twice per week, your chances of injury will plummet.

Coach Jay Johnson is a big proponent of general strength exercises to help athletes get stronger and prevent injury.  I like these medicine ball exercises because they’re straight-forward and can be done anywhere you have some space.  Besides, medicine balls are bad ass.
